Halton links up with local children's services

Halton Snooker Academy is the conception of WPBSA World Snooker coach John Twist, who runs snooker activities for junior players, with an emphasis on provision for young people with additional needs.

The academy is based at Mill Brow Snooker & Social Club in Widnes, and the latest development follows Twist's accreditation as a provider for players with Down's Syndrome after attending a DSActive workshop earlier this year.

With support from the EPSB to promote the sessions through the local school sport network, the snooker group linked up with childrens' services provider, Core Assets.

Core Assets offers integrated services for children and families to provide solutions in out-of-home care or in the community.

The snooker sessions provided through John Twist's initiative have led to a partnership that looks set to become a regular feature.

Join Our Academy

We have now opened our Snooker Academy for the people of Halton to encourage young people to come and learn the game and all the values that the sport entails. It's not just about snooker, it’s about teaching children how to respect their opponent and other people's property, the etiquette and gentlemanly conduct associated with the sport and transferring that to the values of life.

We are proud to be supported by Professional World Snooker players:  Andrew Higginson and Ricky Walden and top World Snooker Referees Jan Verhaas and Michaela Tabb.

Sponsor Our Academy

Many local and National Companies have already become sponsors of Halton Snooker Academy and are already helping many kids from the area to gain valuable skills and confidence whilst having a great, fun time playing snooker.

We look forward to seeing some budding Professional Snooker players gracing our T.V's in the future
